Building a Network of Safe and Healthy Streets for our Regional Community
BikePedRVA 2045
The purpose of BikePedRVA 2045 is to update the 2004 Richmond Regional Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan, document the progress that has been made in the past 16 years, and forecast a vision for the next 25 years. This plan has been prepared in coordination with the ConnectRVA 2045 long-range transportation plan, which was adopted by the Richmond Regional Transportation Planning Organization (RRTPO) Policy Board on October 4, 2021.
Sidewalk Analysis
A prioritization report focused on improving last-mile active transportation connections to transit in the Richmond region. The goal of this effort is to identify where targeted sidewalk and pedestrian improvements can most effectively support transit ridership, particularly in areas with high need or opportunity.
Fall Line
Fall Line is planned to be a 43-mile, paved, shared-use trail that should serve the Richmond region as the north-south spine of a developing active transportation network. The trail should be accessible for all ages and abilities, will connect seven Richmond-area localities and two planning districts, and provide essential connections to activity centers, jobs, parks, schools, transit, and more. Construction of a few segments are underway, with approximately 6 miles to be completed by Summer 2025.

Complete Streets
Streets are a vital part of livable, attractive communities. Everyone, regardless of age, ability, income, race, or ethnicity, should have safe, comfortable, and convenient access to community destinations and public places—whether walking, driving, bicycling, or taking public transportation. This vision underlies the concept of Complete Streets, which has grown over the past decade from an idea to a national movement. Learn more about our pilot project in Ashland
