Near Miss Dashboard Wins National Award

Our Near Miss Dashboard has been selected as a recipient of the 2025 Aliceann Wohlbruck Impact Award by the National Association of Development Organizations (NADO). This national recognition honors innovative, high-impact projects that strengthen regional communities through planning, collaboration, and data-informed decision-making.

Developed by data analyst, Elizabeth Greenwell, to support proactive transportation safety planning, the Near Miss Dashboard is a regional tool that tracks and visualizes incidents that almost resulted in crashes or injuries—offering crucial insights that traditional crash data often misses. By identifying patterns and potential hazards before they become serious incidents, the dashboard empowers localities to take early, targeted action to improve road safety for all users.

This year’s Impact Awards recognized 90 standout projects from across 24 states. PlanRVA’s inclusion in this group reflects our commitment to data-driven innovation and regional collaboration that makes a real difference in people’s lives.

Awardees will be honored at NADO’s 2025 Annual Training Conference this October in Salt Lake City, Utah.
