Wide Open Views: PlanRVA’s Annual Report 2025
Hello Friends,
With your support and our Board’s adoption of our regional strategic vision—Pathways to the Future—we set a strong foundation for the year. By planning together, we align our priorities and investments so they deliver results our communities can feel.
Pathways to the Future centers five interconnected themes on the facing page that guide our core plans, annual work program, and budget. This shared framework helps us integrate our program areas of transportation, housing, safety, environment, and economic strategies; track outcomes with clear indicators; and build common data layers that improve decision-making. It turns plans into coordinated action.
This year, that approach catapulted our success. Here are a few examples:
- Building a greater understanding of emerging needs: An award-winning rural transportation analysis to inform project prioritization and strengthen funding applications.
- Leveraging partnerships to bring resources into our communities: A successful housing development program advancing local solutions.
- Developing data tools to gather input from the community: An award-winning “near-miss” safety dashboard that invites residents to share real-time insights and plan for safer streets.
These accomplishments demonstrate the power of regional cooperation envisioned by the Commonwealth and embraced by our localities.
As the proverb reminds us, “if you want to go fast, go alone; if you want to go far, go together.” The region is going farther—because we are going together.
